The following businesses provide matching funds:
Maybe you’re short on cash, but can offer physical products or services to the Conservancy? Our office is equipped with computers that were donated by members whose donations were matched by their employers.
Land or Easements
There are two main types of land donations: land with conservation value and land without conservation value.
Land with conservation value is land within the San Dieguito Watershed or River Park, or along the planned Coast to Crest Trail. This is land that we will work to preserve and protect as natural open space and part of the River Park.
Land without conservation value is residential or commercial land that will not be part of the River Park or Coast to Crest Trail.
If you donate land with conservation value, you will be eligible for an income tax deduction of the market value of the land without capital gains or estate taxes. We will apply the irrevocable conservation easement to the property.
We will accept and sell residential or commercial land without conservation value, and use the proceeds for land protection and to support our conservation, education, and recreation programs in the River Park.
Donations of any real estate are eligible for income tax deductions for the full market value of properties owned for more than one year, and with no capital gains taxations and removal from estate taxation.
A conservation easement donation maintains your ownership and private use of the land, while conserving the property’s resources in perpetuity. These donations are eligible for income, property, and estate tax benefits associated with the reduction of the land’s market value due to placing perpetual use restrictions.
Planned Estate Giving
Planned Estate Giving or Bequests provide a lasting family legacy and have helped us purchase key properties in the River Park. Incorporate the Conservancy into your will or estate plan as a beneficiary, either of specific assets or of a portion of your estate.
The Conservancy can be made a beneficiary of a variety of financial instruments. Some gift options include:
- Charitable Land Trust
- Charitable Remainder Unitrust
- Charitable Gift Annuity
- Deferred Gift Annuity

We advise that you consult your attorney or tax consultant about establishing Planned Estate Giving or a Bequest and how tax benefits may apply to your specific situation. The Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
