The San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy has four types of programs: Land Acquisition, Trail Acceleration, Stewardship, and Environmental Education.
Summary of Conservancy Programs and Results
- Nearly 65% of the 94,000 acres within the planning area for the 55-mile San Dieguito River Park is in protected public ownership.
- The Conservancy has been involved in the acquisition of 19 parcels of land, totaling about 8,300 acres.
- Conservancy-led volunteer programs and habitat restoration projects have restored over 1,000 acres within the San Dieguito River Valley
- Donations to the Conservancy are funding the development of 12 miles of trail between Boden Canyon and Lake Sutherland and a trail connection between the San Pasqual Valley and the Poway Trails System.
- 37 miles of the Coast to Crest Trail and over 40 miles of side trail are open for public use
- The Conservancy conducts general public and Members Only hikes to educate about the environmental values of the river corridor and provides an Outdoor Learning Laboratory experiences for school groups.
